Film stars Jude Law and Sienna Miller have tied the knot while on holiday in Laos in South East Asia.
The British acting couple whose on off relationship in recent years has been followed with huge interest by the UK media are planning to marry officially later in 2010 but have already tied the knot, literally, in a Baci blessing, a traditional South Asian ceremony which involves the wearing of cotton wrist bands, while on holiday in Laos.
The Lao ritual of the Baci involves strings being tied around a person’s wrist to preserve good luck and is also associated with transitions in life such as birth, marriage, becoming a monk, farewells, returning, New Year celebrations and welcoming guests.
Jude Law and Sienna Miller have reportedly embarked on the romantic holiday gesture with a village elder joining them at the wrist with a thread and then receiving red and white bracelets to cap the ceremony.
The actors became one of Britain’s most famous acting couples before splitting in 2008 but were reunited last year and are now expected to enjoy a more traditional British wedding with friends and family.
The event was confirmed when Jude Law was seen still wearing his wristband during an appearance at the Tony Awards in New York.
The choice of ‘holiday marriage’ is an increasingly popular one for UK couples but the choice of Laos for the pair’s holiday marriage is certainly individual – Laos, a cult destination for UK travellers is a beautiful country, known for its stunning mountain ranges, pretty villages and iconic temples.
The couple stayed in Luang Prabang, the historic royal capital noted for its Buddhist temples.
If you are considering following in the footsteps of the celebrity couple, airlines from the UK offer regular flights – including Gulf Air, Emirates and Singapore Airlines – and you will also find specialist tour operators who can provide accommodation and travel combined.
Once there in Laos there is much to explore with towns and cities full of life: arts, music and crafts to enjoy, as well as vibrant markets. But there is also so much more to see in this Buddhist country for adventurous travellers – the forested mountains of Northern Laos, the impressive limestone rock formations and waterfalls; as well as Si Phan Don – the Four Thousand Islands – where the Mekong River is at its most spectacular.
Famous for its rich landscape and spectacular monasteries and ancient sites, Laos, or the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, is a landlocked country in South East Asia, bordered by Burma and China to the North West, Vietnam to the East, Cambodia to the South and Thailand to the West. The country is often the next stop destination for holidaymakers after arriving in Bangkok, Thailand.

I still don’t believe in this wedding rumour regarding Jude Law and Sienna Miller about the marriage blessing in a Baci ceremony. To say for that red bracelet for what Jude Law is wearing which suppose to be a so-called proof of there wedding blessing in Asia, tell me something how comes other celebrities, especially the ones who are not legally married or commited to someone wear that same red string bracelet on a regular basis I have seen Madonna wear it before she even met Guy Ritchie, because that string bracelet is like another proof of a another religion called the Kabalah.
